Session Sixteen (Graveyard of Empires Summary)

As the party tries to regain their footing, they begin to hear a voice ringing in their ears. The voices are longing for the stars that they think are missing. Galron reacts poorly. Ir’Alle hears the voice calling out to him that he is a faithful servant of Xen’Telar, and that he must protect the halls and what they have. As the party moves out of the room, Tarion gets the feeling that we’ve missed something. He manages to find a false wall. Behind the wall there is a series of concentric rings. It appears that they can be moved to make different patterns. There is Ancient Dwarven script that says that deep down the lovers eyes watch eternally.

Eventually the party decides that circles can be arranged into an ancient constellation by the name of the Lover. The door opens, and the party enters a room that has not been kept clean and has a single unadorned sarcophagus. It is longer than the average sarcophagus. Inside the sarcophagus there is what appears to be a human male body with a rose on his body. Upon closer inspection the rose appears to be made of carved stone and rubies.

The party leaves and continues exploring the tombs. They find a room with a single sarcophagus that is covered in military themed carvings. There are automatons being led in battle and dwarves fighting other dwarves. There is even one where Dwarves slaughter humans. Inside there is a Dwarf body who is wearing very fancy armor and a very strange sword. The room is looted and the party moves on. We try to move the bridge, but we find that whatever power the mechanism works on has run out. They run around a bit and encounter a large automaton warrior that appears to be acting erratically. It is dealt with quickly. Galron and thorfus set off a trap and both get hurt badly.

The party moves on and finds a room filled with bodies. In the room there are 6 zombies who move the bodies from pile to pile. Galron manages to anger the zombies, and a short battle takes place with the party being victories. The decision is made to loot the bodies and we manage to get a decent amount of pocket change. The party continues on with an unconscious Galron in tow.

We find two automatons in a fight with each other. We wait for one to win, then dispatch the second with no issue. The party manages to leave the tombs without much of a hitch, and we learn that Peret is looking for us. We take Galron to the local Ark outpost.

We head back to the tavern and find out that someone has repeatedly been looking for Sthorm. In light of recent events the party decides to deal with the grey cloak problem immediately. Upon seeing some of them in front of the townhouse, we turn ourselves in in order to speak with the lord. We leave our weapons beside and have a conversation with the leader of the grey cloaks. Most of it involves talk about the families of the women we saved in the sewers. Eventually we came to the conclusion that it was in our best interest to help the grey cloaks find the Imperial threat that they feel is looming high.



I know this isn’t like what has been posted on here so far, but the last session was so EPIC that I felt inspired to share my character’s inner turmoil teeeheee:

Staring Galron

Once upon a breakfastless morning, we met per chance on the streets of Curabel as I was trying to steal some gold in a crowd. I must say it was not exactly graceful, and the guards couldn’t help, but notice my failed attempt at criminal activities. I was quick on my feet and dexterously made my way through the crowd, not oblivious to the long haired and bearded scrawny plated boy chasing behind me.

That was how we met. It must be futile to say that we were often at each other’s throat and both eager to have the other part from the company. Now, he lays there as fried as fish and chips with half of his face burned and unrecognizable.

As they say, ‘tis only when we come close to losing something that we realize what it is truly worth’. And in fact, he had always been a pile of fried flesh only now showing its true nature…

The man was not the most pleasant company, always speaking of righteousness and justice and perpetually seeing the world as black and white. In his mind, things are beautiful and simple and I might sometimes even envy this simplicity. Nevertheless, my world has always been painted in shades of grey.

Indeed, to live and survive by tainting the past, or to die as a forgotten embodiment of what is good. I would always go for the first option. There was never a doubt in my mind as I believed that the moment you died, there was nothing left.

However, the recent events have sown within me the seed of doubt. Am I truly the one I have believed myself to be? Think of no one, but me, myself and I (oh, and my GGFGM, but that’s another story), a coin for a coin and an eye for an eye?

We had heard a loud crashing sound in another room and had rushed towards the location only to find Galron laying on the floor, his body as cold as death. Lightning was soon going to hit again and we had no way to escape without leaving the injured man to meet his end.

I have no doubt that I was not expecting anything from saving the epitome of lawfulness. I have no doubt that I believed I would get fried to the bones trying to save his righteous derriere! And yet, along with Ir’Alle I threw myself in between the paladin and the lightning.

I have never been irrational. Perhaps slightly unwitty, but not irrational. Yet, even at that crucial moment of life and death when the lightning was about to strike, my faith never faltered: we would get brothered, have a lot of companions and adventure together happily ever after.

Seems like his paladinness getting fried has begun to overturn this true neutrality of mine…
