Session: 12

Our group emerges out of the sewers only to see an orange glow and smoke out in the distance of the city. As everyone gets out Perette informs the group that he is giving them a week before he tells Lord Thorton that the tomb they are exploring is on university grounds. After this is explained two guards come up to the group telling them to lay down their weapons. Perette told them he was Thortons right hand man and ended up convincing them.
It turned out while down in the sewers some crazy person had killed the mayor. This has led in people going around in mobs and acting violent. Perette deputized the guards, one to escort him to Lord Thorton and the other to escort to the Cock N’ Bull.
As the group followed the guard named Montrel through the town they saw a mob in the distance and decided to hide as to avoid confrontation. As the mob got closer they could see that they were all wearing masquerade masks, one had a girl tied up. When the guard saw this he came out from hiding to confront the mob and enforce the curfew that was put in place. The guard knew the mob as it turns out they are university students but the leader was a real nasty person.
The leader laughed at Montrel and didn’t take him seriously as well with saying that they’re bringing her in for questioning. As this is going on Thorfus yells “you’re going the wrong way to Lord Thorton’s” the leader says “there are other higher powers than just him”. Thorfus has had enough and gets out from the shadows telling them to drop the girl. Him and his party just got out of the sewers fighting machines and aren’t in exactly a good mood. This makes leader realize that it’s probably a good idea to let the woman go. Faldspar comes out from hiding and hypnotizes half of the mob including the leader. He told them to put down their arms which they complied to. Faldspar questioned the leader asking who the other powers were in town other than Lord Thorton. The leader told Faldspar who it was, after that Faldspar told them to go back home and leave their weapons. One person from the mob was shocked that the leader whom he called Elaine would leave his sword behind.
The group untied the girl who was distraught, Montrel asked the group if they could accompany the girl back to her home. Once they made it to the girls home which was a bakery it looked like it had been trashed by the mob from before. Inside was a woman with a broken arm sitting over a man that was unconcious. The party decide to take the family with them as it didn’t seem safe at all to leave them especially if the mob of university students came back.
The part eventually makes it to the Cock N Bull to see that there were wagons blocking their townhouse and there was a dead body up the street. The party knocks on the door to the Cock N Bull only to hear a gruff voice saying “can’t you leave decent folk alone!” After a bit of convincing they were let inside to see that there were many wounded people lain on the ground. The party goes to the town house and leaves the family, Tarion, and Faldspar to rest with Sturloc, Kottar, and Kilmar guarding. The rest of the party goes to investigate the body and saw that the person had been shot in the back by an arrow. They go check on Desrick, who seems to be doing just fine. After that the party turns in for the night needing to get some rest.
The following morning they get themselves ready to go and sell everything they picked up from the tomb. The first destination was the jeweller to sell the gold and jewelery they had for quite a hefty sum. Afterwards they went back to Desrick’s house, there they tell Desrick as to what has happened down there and what they saw. They ended up selling the mechanical beetles to him and asked about the black cubes they had. He said that they may be a book or a library from the dwarves but he wasn’t sure.
Once they were done with Desrick the party went to repair their weapons and headed off to Talisin’s to sell the books they acquired. The shop is closed up and they go ask in the nearby tavern to which they were told to keep knocking. The door opened up to what looked like a stereotypical evil looking person. Galron ended up detecting evil on him to find out he was infact evil. They are brought in to meet with Talisin and show the books. He could only read one which was to disable automatons, it turned out Faldspar hadn’t read the other one which was actually written for illusionists and it was about taking control of automatons. Talisin took notice that Faldspar was an illusionist and insulted him by saying that books are hard. Faldspar rebuttaled by saying “Yes that’s why you couldn’t read this one right?”. After the pleasantries the party pulled out one of the black cubes. Talisin had a greedy look of curiosity on his eyes and wanted to buy the cube right away. The party refused because they may need it in the tomb. On the way out Ethan expresses worries to the group as to what his mentor is doing and says to not give him those cubes. Talisin and that evil man have been doing something in the tower without him. Galron tells Ethan that if it gets worse to come get them. The group rushes off to Aldus’s with a wagon to acquire information before the curfew for the day. He gives the same information that Desrick did however, he is able to identify the black cube as a possible library.

I lost all of my notes from our last session so I hope this is pretty accurate.
